Contenders has always been released during the NFL playoffs. In some cases (as last year) release dates were a bit late due to the demand for the autographs.
Personally I would rather them hold off, than have them put a redemption in my pack of cards!

Certified was pushed back from 10/16 to a 11/21 release date (and still had like 1/3 of the Freshman Fabrics be a redemption). I think with the delay in their other series, Contenders will also see a late release date.

A couple images were released, but still not much product info besides horizontal cards.
