People stealing your pictures and claiming it as theirs

People stealing your pictures and claiming it as theirs
I did a google search and I came across this photo of my buddy's card, that I had taken a picture of and posted on a forum a while back.

Now this guy has it on his site and if you right click, it says that it's trademarked to his site.

What freakin' nerves. Seriously. I know the card has been in the Beckett. Even on their blog. But for someone to steal the image I took and claim it as theirs, makes me mad.

Same card, but one looks like a scan and one looks like a pic taken w/ a camera not a scanner. The scan could just be a crop of the picture I suppose.

The only reason that they trademarked it is to keep scammers from posting this card for sale on another site.

High end card pics should always have a trademark to prevent some scammer from trying to sell a high dollar card on a forum or ebay when they actually do not even have the card.

The card is my buddy's. I was the one that took the picture with a camera. But the one Beckett has, must of been given to them by Upper Deck. I also have a clear one that I scanned as well.

Because if you check my photobucket, I have the card there. I'm not sure if he's sold it or not since I haven't spoken with him in a while since I moved about 2 hours away.

Looks like who ever is uploading pics of cards to that site is just collecting card images... it doesn't say they are for sale or trade... my opinion is that it is rude to take other people's card pictures, but since they were posted online.. anybody can download them. we as collectors (buyers, sellers, or traders) just have to be careful who we are doing transactions with. I love that most cards are serialized these days.. makes it easy to track them down.. when scammers use other people's card pictures it makes it easy to prosecute those that commit internet & mail fraud. Especially if you have the card in hand or locate the person that has the card.

This is why you always put a watermark on all your pictures, like they did with that card.
