I say it depends on numerous factors:
the card, the brand, the player, the demand, the average selling price, how many of them are listed on the site, how many have sold in the past two weeks on the site, etc. , etc.

For example, take 2 different cards with a book value of $100
1) card A sells for $85 on average
2) card B sells for $35 on average

too many factors and variables are involved...
BOTTOM LINE, it depends on you and the person you are buying/trading/selling with etc.

1st off I think it all depends on the kind of person you are, and why it is you are doing this in the first place .
Are you doing it to help out a trader or are you trying to get something "you" want from a trader.

2nd IMO if your paying 40 cash then I think up to 80 is fair.

I would say 60 - 80. Must be a decent player. My guys press plates cost me $5
