This trade makes no sense. The only winner here are the Mets.

Unless the Giants make it to the World Series. That is the only way it was worth it

The Giants needed a power threat to solidify their lineup since Posey and Freddy Sanchez are both likely out for the year. Even if Beltran doesn't put up amazing stats, guys hitting behind him like Huff and Belt likely will see better/more pitches to hit due to the pure mental threat of Beltran. Wheeler is a good prospect so I'm not thrilled to dump him but I'm just glad they didn't dump Belt or Gary Brown (the 2 other main pieces the Mets reportedly wanted). Overall the trade could help both teams at some point or another.

I don't think San Fran will miss Wheeler.They should have a great one two punch in Lincecum and Vogelsong.And if they decide to keep Cain then that would be a plus.
