1996 Topps Stars Reprints #24 Michael Jordan 8.5 lower right corner? edge chipping slight?
1970 Topps #500 Hank Aaron 6.5 corners
1982 Columbus Clippers Police #19 Don Mattingly 7 hard to tell from scan bottom corners.
2001 Fleer Platinum #252 Ichiro Suzuki RC 9+ looks nice
2001 Donruss #195 Ichiro Suzuki RR RC 7 bottom corners hard grade with the black
1985 Fleer #286 Kirby Puckett RC 8-9 looks nice
1983 Fleer #507 Ryne Sandberg RC 6 looks like chipping or stuck to another card top right corner bottom left too.
1983 Fleer #179 Wade Boggs RC 8 looks nice bottom right corner touch.

and I always seem to be off by .5-1 grade. Almost always come back lower than I think.

The centering on the the Jordan and the Puckett are immediately noticeable as off center. The edge chipping on the Jordan, the Aaron, and the Ichiro Donruss will probably hold them back. The upper right corner on the Sandberg will hurt it greatly. On the Puckett, is that wavy line running off the lower edge of the team logo a surface wrinkle, a print flaw, or something that was on the scanner or softsleeve?

Thanks for the insight I have to say 6.5 on the Aaron might be low as I compared it to my BVG 6.5 1975 George Brett and it looks slightly better. I also believe the Ichiro Fleer is the nicest and it is a 9+. Everything else to me seems right as I can see the flaws on some of them after I scanned them. The Mattingly I need to look at again but I am going to take off the Sandberg and Ichiro Donruss. I will have to look at my other cards and see what else I wanna send in.

i'd drop a lil cash and buy a decent jewelers loop

between that and a decent magnifying glass, and a high powered light + black light

really get in there and look over the areas you think have issues.

I found a $60.00 Jewelers Loupe that has a built in led light for $60.00. I will probably buy after I get my cards back. the fleer ichiro is very nice I can't see it getting less than a 9 as I have recieved 9's and I have some 9.5's that don't look as goo as that one. The scan blows it up and the areas in question I will look with my magnifing glass I already own. I scanned them posted on beckett and left for work. So I have not gotten a chance to look at the problem areas.

RE: Need advice on grades for these 8 cards.
it was a pretty good investment for judging surfaces and corners.... I am still figuring out what exactly constitutes what grades generally through my own trial and error, but between those items it makes it really easy to find if there are blemishes on the cards, and if you are aiming only for 9.5s (at least on newer cards) really nice tool to be able to do that. I have an omnigrid for measuring centering... with my poor eyesight I found I'm not very good using it, so created a simple crude digital omnigrid to use in photoshop with a scan of the card I'm looking over to really check out the centering on cards. up close and personal

on my order of 8 cards just graded every one came back with a centering of 9.5 so I at least have that aspect down... when trading or buying that is also my main thing i look for anyway as to me, I'd rather have a little edgewear or a corner issue than a poorly centered card all day.

the loop i picked up was much cheaper ($15-20 price range) no built in light, one day when money isn't as tight I intend on picking up a nicer one also

I was going to comment, but after looking at the other comments I don't think I need to.

Amazing how high we rate them when they are our cards and how much we notice when they are other peoples.

Great cards! Wish I had some of them...someday perhaps
