Why is UD labeled as rookie cards, well just could be the old relationship they have/had with Beckett and the rest of the industry ???
It's so true... their relationship in the industry has claimed their stake.
Also, variations and parallels are killing the idea of the TRUE RCs.
I still collect RCs. RCs and low serials. I don't do much with the ones in between and i sure enough, rarely collect players in their college uni unless it's UGA guys because, hey, they're professionals. Keep it professional.

I just don't see why one card is a rookie and the same exact card with a stamp on it saying it's number 8 out of 10 made isn't a rookie card. Anyone in there right mind would rather have the one with 10 made.

What if the one 8/10 isn't auto'ed?
For instance, Contenders RC autos are like 500. The Playoff tickets are like /99 unauto'ed.
Also, being 8 of 10 is cool, but when there's a /15 /25 /50 /199 /599 also, the /599 would more than likely be used to complete sets for set builders. It all relates back to building sets. None of the companies can make money and have people searching and buying if there's only 10 possible sets to complete cuz once those 10 are complete, where's the thrill of the chase then?

On a related note, can anyone explain to me why the new Exquisite release will be considered a 2010 product? Press Pass, SAGE Hit, and Leaf Metal are already out and are listed as 2011 sets. Exquisite is released after these 3 2011 products as a non NFL licensed (college only) product and somehow it will contain cards that are designated as 2010 RCs. To me this just doesn't make sense.

I think most likely the companies are releasing products earlier and that's why there are 2011 products before the 2010 products are done coming out. I mean having a set come out before the draft I personally think is dumb.

I would assume PP and Sage do not get classified as Rookies because they are launched prior to any of the players being drafted.
How can you label something as a "Rookie Card" if they aren't even actually a professional yet?

So that means That they are getting a biased designation? Just because they were a NFL Licensed company before shouldn't mean anything now.

There have been a few Sets that are released before the draft. Yet some of those are considered rcs. Even the new Topps Inception brand for 2011 wouldn't be considered rcs if we follow this logic. That and none of the Ud Products from last year say their NFL team name.

Here's a thought... Some guys have "RC's" but after preseason gets cut.
Are they still a rookie? Hmmm...
Here's another thought... Blake Griffin was in last years draft class, but started his career this year. Wouldn't this year's Griffin cards also be considered "RC's," or are last years cards just considered for naught?

just like some companies use 2-3 year old stickers up so they can make auto cards for guys on practice squads, and some that may saying "you want fries with that ???" lol ..... it's just the nature of the beast

After reading this and thinking I'm not really sure where I stand anymore lol. I always just thought of every card from a player in the year he gets drafted as a rookie card but some good points in here.
