He had a great NFL career. Too bad someone told him to go for the most money with the Cardinals. Seemed like he would have had enough n his tank to last on better teams. Either way, one of the "great backs" that look disappointing thanks to Emmitt andf Barry's career.

He did have a great career! The second-fastest player in NFL history to reach 2,500 yards before he got hurt in 2001. Funny, though, it probably bothers me more that he's only about 55 yds short of passing Faulk on the all-time rushing list and reaching the Top 10 than it does Edge. I say that because, through what I've read and observed over the years, football wasn't everything to him. He loved playing, and was as competitive as anyone, but he knew it wasn't for the rest of his life.

Edge moved to AZ because he wanted both a chance to reach the SB (which happened in 2008-2009) and to cash in on what would likely be his last contract... definitely last big, multi-year contract. The Colts couldn't pay him so they both made a mutually agreeable business decision to split. The fact the Irsay honored him with a ring the year after the Colts won goes to show there was no bad blood at all. AZ has always been a RB killer in my opinion... they did it to Emmitt, Edge, and countless other backs.

He made practical decisions for his future and his family. His long-time girlfriend had leukemia and passed away right before the end of his career, gotta figure that played into his decision to go for the dough rather than stay in Indy. Since he retired he's focused on running his free camp for kids which, by all accounts, is what he'd rather be doing than toting the rock anyway.
