I know someone that learned this lesson the hardest way when sending a M. Jordan auto #'d 1/10 that sold for over $500 to a buyer in Austrailia.
It is too expensive to get paypal seller protection when sending internationally. I don't usually do it unless it is a trusted forum member
There are enough buyers in the U.S. that claim they don't get cards when they actually do. I have met some of them. They look for new sellers and sellers that are known to ship without DC. I am sure there are some of these types abroad. If you send without DC it is all on you and you should be aware of this when selling online. Sorry for a lesson the hard way...

I didn't send the card with tracking because I live in the UK and to do so would cost about $15. The card itself was worth $30.
I had no option but to refund him. It made me feel sick to the stomach, but I guess that's the risk of sending anything in the post.
Thankfully, this has happened just once in about 1,000 transactions. If the item was worth more, I'd have sent it with tracking, but it's just not worth it for a $30 item; if I paid for tracking every time then I'd be even more out of pocket than I am now!
