Whats wrong with this picture?

Whats wrong with this picture?
Ok, so im an experienced collector of these cards, and this is the only one ive ever seen...a Steve Yzerman 2001/02 UD Ice First Rounders jersey card with a BLACK jersey swatch. Now we all know that Stevey never played with any other team than the Red Wings, and the Wings jerseys are entirely red and white. The back of these cards states that the jersey swatch is "used by Steve Yzerman in an official NHL game" I dont ever remember Steve wearing a black jersey in any wings game haha..so maybe an all star jersey peice? and if so why havent i seen any other Yzerman cards with black swatches?

what do you guys think??

Did Detroit ever have a black third jersey like Philly?
Collecting all the Ron Hextall Cards especially those
pesky 1 of 1 cards and other low print runs.
I am also collecting Bernie Parent, Pelle Lindbergh,
Antero Niittymaki & other Flyers goalies.

No, never... the first "third jersey" they've had since, at least the late 70's, was the Winter Classic

Wiki states that Detroit has never had a third jersey, only once have they used a "Throwback".

Unless theyve mucked up and run out of redwings and used a Canada jersey.

I saw an article about this card back in the day, but I can't remember where they said the swatch came from.

Thanks for the replies guys, and yea even the throwbacks and winter classic jersey a few years ago were red and white. detroit does use black practice jerseys but the card states "from an official NHL game" not a practice, photoshoot or something like that. Ive been looking everywhere, and the only thing it could be was from an all star game..he did play in the worlds for Canada and their jerseys had black in them when he wore them but thats not "official NHL" so im still lost haha

I actually had a black and red Wings jersey in highschool, but it was just a replica and I was never sure if they made an authentic one. That is weird, usually it's red or white. Now you can put it on Ebay as a "true 1 of 1" LOL

Would not be unusual for jersey cards to say "from an offical NHL game" when they where not for jerseys cards that old.
