Copying cards to other folders or collections.

Copying cards to other folders or collections.
I noticed an issue when I would copy, not add, a card to another folder or collection and then change the quantity. The card quantity in the new folder would also change the quantity in the old folder. This is a problem as I like to sort my cards in different folders to track them by high price to low price, or by manufacturer or year. Or, if i had repeats, I could keep them in a different folder because I do not want them in my complete collections. The old site was not like this. Is there a chance that this might be changed?

Thats what the have want and keep fields are for. say for instance you have seven copies of a card. You have one in a set collection, one in a player collection, and five to trade. The have field would show all seven, The want field, zero, and the keep field two. The card would also show up in the set and player collections with all the fields filled out the same. This is where the tags come in to play. Click on show tags and the tags will show which collections the cards are in, in this case the set and player collections. If trade is working right someone looking to trade will only see the five cards for trade. It still isn't clear if the trade field is alphanumeric or binary. It was binary on the old site (Checked box) so I would expect it still is. If this is the case the only valid filler for that field would be a 0 or a 1.

Another way to fix this is to do the following. Within the collection you just added the card to, duplicate the card. Select the Round item in the last column of the card. Then just remove the previous record from that collection. And also remove the tags for the duplicated item, so it says it is only in this new collection and not in the old one.
Doing this will ensure you have your old record, and a new one in a specific collection.
I do this when i have sets i am completing and want to separate those cards from my other collections. Works very well.
Hope this helps
Manny

I will try both of these selections out and let you know what I find. Thanks.

RE: Copying cards to other folders or collections.
I figured out how to duplicate an item, but I can only duplicate one item at a time. Is there a way to dup more than one item? Can I dup a complete collection? This is what I really want to do.

Currently it doesn't look like there is. Don't know if it is something they will work on and implement in the future or not. You could put that as a suggestion in the site suggestions forum.

Ya would be alot easier to remove more than one item from a collection as well. I cant complain to much the macros just take too long sometimes Smile

How cards are counted towards a collection
Why is it that a collection of the same set/card can not be counted as an individual set/card and be counted towards "All Items"? Ex: in my folders:Topps Sets, I have separate collection for every set I have. Now for multiple sets I have them in different collections ie: 1974 and 1974(2) / 1987, 1987(2), 1987(3) to show how many complete sets I have, instead of having a collection "1987" and under "Have" put in a quanity of 3, however, the cards are still only counted as 1 when it comes to the total of all items..same with multiple cards of the same player of same set. Ex: 1974 Thurman Munson, I have four, two as part of 1974 complete sets, two additional cards that I wanted to put under a collections 1970...however, the way things are set up, for all cards to be counted, I would have to put a collection for 1974 quanity of 2 and when I add the 2 extra munson, it adds an additonal 2 to show a quanity of 4? Is there a way to make mulitple (separate)collections for the same set/card and have it counted in my total collections?

Thanks Mike

RE: Copying cards to other folders or collections.
I just posted the same question today under "How cards are counted to a collection"

I want to be able to count each card individually in separate collections..not as a whole
