This 85-piece set was issued by Cincinnati-based Kenner Toy Company. The statues feature top National Basketball Association stars in action poses and are accompanied by a standard-size card of each player. The card front has either a posed or action color shot. The back has biographical and statistical information along with a facsimile signature. This was the first Basketball set produced under the Starting Lineup brand. The two main modes of distribution for the '88 Basketball set were regionally issued team cases (12 pieces) and nationally distributed All-Star cases (24 pieces). The All-Star cases consisted of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (2), Charles Barkley, Larry Bird (3), Patrick Ewing (2), Magic Johnson (3), Michael Jordan (5), Danny Manning, Kevin McHale, Hakeem Olajawon (2), Isiah Thomas (2) and Dominique Wilkins (2). The Utah Jazz team had the lowest print run of any of the teams. The Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers figures came in the same team case, as did the New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets figures. The values listed below refer to unopened packages. The figures are unnumbered and checklisted below in alphabetical order. [Collapse]
