Alrak Enterprises produced this set as a promotion for Taco Time Restaurants of Western Washington. Individual cards were available free with the purchase of a Taco Time "Happy Meal" or could be purchased at participating restaurants for 99 cents with any food purchase. The promotion featured a different Sonic player each week for 12 consecutive weeks. There are two number 5 cards because Detlef Schrempf was added to the promotion after his trade to the Seattle Supersonics. It was reported that during week five, some stores were sent McKey by mistake while others were sent Schrempf in short numbers. The postcard-size cards measure approximately 3 1/2" by 5" and feature artwork by sports and comic book illustrator Larry Weber. On a colored background, the fronts feature cartoon-like caricatures, with the player's first name printed in gold-foil letters at the top. The team's logo and the words "Not in our house" also in gold-foil letters round out the front. With Seattle's night skyline as a background, the horizontal backs show a color player portrait, the player's name, biographical information, and his favorite Taco Time menu item. The cards are numbered on the back. [Collapse]
