The 1993 Conlon Collection Master Series premier issue consists of nine cards subtitled "The Best There Was". The set production was limited to 25,000, and each set includes a certificate of authenticity with the serial number. The oversize cards measure approximately 8" by 10" and feature the photography of Charles Martin Conlon, the greatest sports photographer of his time. The Sporting News acquired Conlon's work in 1945, and from this archive, Megacards created the Master Series. With the exception of the Johnson and Gehrig card (3), the horizontal backs have a black-and-white close-up player shot on the left. Each set was accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that gave the set number out of a production run of 25,000. By returning the original certificate of authenticity along with 9.95, the collector received a protective portfolio to display the cards and a new deluxe certificate. The portfolio and the cards carried a suggested retail price of 29.95. [Collapse]
