Set Information

One of Topps' most unusual test sets is this series of 55 color portraits of baseball players printed on the bottom of candy lids. These lids measure 1 7/8" in diameter. The product was called "Baseball Stars Bubble Gum" and consisted of a small tub of candy-coated gum kernels. The lids were issued in 10 cent containers which came 24 to a box. The product was called "Baseball Stars Bubble Gum" and consisted of a small tub of candy-coated gum kernels. The lids were issued in 10 cent containers which came 24 to a box. Issued in 1973, the lids are unnumbered and each has a small tab. Underneath the picture is a small ribbon design which contains the player's name, team and position.
