The cards in this confusing 36-card set (the number of different front pictures) measure approximately 2 3/8" by 2 7/8". The 1935 Goudey set is sometimes called the Goudey Puzzle set, or the Goudey 4-in-1n set. There are 36 different card fronts but 114 different front/back combinations. Our checklist details all 114 cards, grouped together by the 36 different card front combinations. The player combinations are listed alphabetically by reading the player names in clockwise order starting from the top left corner. The card backs can be arranged to form one of nine different puzzles picturing either a player or a team and each back specifically details both the puzzle (or "picture" as it states on the actual card backs) it belongs too using numbers 1-9 and the specific piece it is within the puzzle (using letters A-M). The following is the list of the puzzle back pictures: 1) Detroit Tigers; 2) Chuck Klein; 3) Frankie Frisch; 4) Mickey Cochrane; 5) Joe Cronin; 6) Jimmy Foxx; 7) Al Simmons; 8) Cleveland Indians; and 9) Washington Senators. The first seven puzzles were actually created in two separate combinations of card fronts; thus the Chuck Klein puzzle (catalogued as "Picture 2" on the card backs) is actually available in two different groups of six card fronts - one group of which has been verified as a short print. The SP cards have all been tagged in our checklist. Finally, a limited number of cards feature blue borders (rather than the standard red borders). Though they're not short-printed, we've tagged the cards for referential purposes. [Collapse]
