1928 Star Player Candy

This set is presumed to have been inserts to a candy box named "Star Player Candy" produced by Dockman and Sons candy company. The cards are sepia colored and measure approximately 1 7/8" by 2 7/8" with blank backs. The fronts feature full length action shots except for Dave Bancroft which is a portrait. This set is presumed to have been inserts to a candy box named "Star Player Candy" produced by Dockman and Sons candy company. The cards are sepia colored and measure approximately 1 7/8" by 2 7/8" with blank backs. The fronts feature full length action shots except for Dave Bancroft which is a portrait. The player's name is printed in brown capital letters in the bottom border. A second version of some cards in this set were recently discovered as part of a multi-sport product (issued by Dockman and Son) entitled "Headliners and Gum." This version features card numbers and bios on the backs and the baseball players were issued with golfers and aviators. [Collapse]
