The 1986 Topps football card set contains 396 standard-size cards. As if to resemble a football field, player photos are surrounded by green borders with white lines. The player's name, team name and position are at the bottom. Horizontally designed backs have yearly statistics and highlights. The copyright line on the back also includes a letter (A, B, C, or D) to indicate which sheet the card was cut from. Note that each card in the set was produced on two different sheets. This resulted in each card including one of two different letter designations on the back, thus creating a variation on each card. Subsets include Record Breakers (1-7) and league leaders (225-229). Team cards feature a distinctive yellow border on the front with the team's results and leaders (from the previous season) listed on the back. The set numbering is in order of 1984 finish. Rookie Cards in this set include Mark Bavaro, Ray Childress, Boomer Esiason, Bernie Kosar, Wilber Marshall, Karl Mecklenburg, William Perry, Andre Reed, Jerry Rice, Bruce Smith and Al Toon. In addition, Anthony Carter, Gary Clark, Bobby Hebert, Reggie White and Steve Young are Rookie Cards, although they had each appeared in a previous Topps USFL set. [Collapse]
