This 85-piece set was issued by Cincinnati-based Kenner Toy Company. The statues feature top Major League Baseball stars in action poses and are accompanied by two cards. There is a regular card which features a posed or action color shot on front. The back has biographical and statistical information along with a facsimile signature. The second card is titled a "Rookie" card. The front has an action or posed shot along with a banner in the upper part that has the "Rookie Year" for that particular player. The back features biographical information. Figures were distributed through regionally issued team cases (16 pieces), nationally issued All-Star cases (24 pieces), via a 1-800 number and through extended series cases (24 pieces). This was the last year that the baseball series had the distribution through the regional team cases. The All-Star cases were divided into American and National League. The 15 players included in the American League All-Star cases were Wade Boggs, Jose Canseco, Roger Clemens, Mike Greenwell, Ken Griffey Jr. (Sliding), Rickey Henderson, Bo Jackson, Don Mattingly (Bat in Hand), Fred McGriff, Mark McGwire, Paul Molitor, Kirby Puckett, Cal Ripken, Nolan Ryan and Steve Sax. The 16 players included in the National League cases were Will Clark (Batting), Vince Coleman, Eric Davis, Andre Dawson, Andres Galarraga, Kirk Gibson, Dwight Gooden, Mark Grace (Batting), Orel Hershiser, Gregg Jefferies, Kevin Mitchell, Chris Sabo, Ryne Sandberg, Mike Scott, Ozzie Smith and Darryl Strawberry (Batting). This was also the first year of the Extend series release. The key first pieces are both of the Ken Griffey Jr. poses, one of which appears in the extended series. The most valuable, Greg Maddux was available only in Chicago regional cases and is tougher to find than his 1989 figure. The values listed below refer to unopened packages. The figures are unnumbered and checklisted below in alphabetical order. [Collapse]
