RE: Contest: Product Ideas - evanturner12 - 06-29-2011

base cards have BV of like $0.25-$1 right? They wouldn't sell for that on the bay though.

it's about sell value. what you can get out of the card. not what someone tells you, you can get. a lot of people do care about the values. it's almost impossible to make money on a box unless you hit someone really big. Since people sell singles they don't want on ebay it really kills the sell value where ever you sell the cards. like someone offered me a sweet printing plate for $40, but I saw a similar on ebay for $20. naturally i bought it on ebay. and it is legit (i had it checked). i think everyone rather bust a box of cards and see themselves get a nice hit better than buying the nice hit on ebay, but when the card is really cheap on ebay you buy it. high end stuff is risky (eg national treasures), but middle of the pack boxes are the worst (contenders). i like retail boxes because you get a lot of cards. blasters are decent if they are $10 or less, but you are paying more for the packaging than anything else. I am thinking about the customers (remove the redemption). I would also get rid of the sticker autos if you can (but the cards would probably not be mint (graded 10) if the players were handling the cards)

I think you are making a good point for my side....

Here is an example of what im talking about. This is from National treasures which, if you can find, which started out at around $400 and now are around $1000 or more. If you get a hit like this one below, it should cover the cost right... NOPE not even close. There is almost no value in Buying these high end products cause there is no way to recover your money unless you get that logoman 1/1. And even then it hard to get $1000. My pack gets us back to where the card makers are back on track with us collectors. And they will still make money just like the oil companies do.

Heres the card Im referring to. Lets see do I want a box for a grand, or this card for under $200? HMMMMM>..........

RE: Contest: Product Ideas - evanturner12 - 06-29-2011

any ways I made this card for my idea on page one of "New School"

I made it powerpoint using an auto photo of lebron I have. Don't laugh since it's powerpoint. Photoshop would take me several hours. This took me 10 mins.

RE: Contest: Product Ideas - xstreaminsanity - 06-29-2011

Going forward, I would like people not to worry so much about value as what they'd like to see. I want people to give ideas of what they'd like to see, not necessarily what would or wouldn't work. IF, and it's a big IF, any company were to like these ideas (which I'm not shopping them around, don't have the time) I'm sure they'd find a way to make it work for them and for us (I hope). If you want to see all GU cards, tell me. If you want to see no GU cards, tell me. If you want to see all headband cards, tell me. Tell me what you want to see in a product, don't worry about the validity of it. I won't be judging on if it can work or not. And I'm not saying this in any way against you evanturner12 by any means (I like the card by the way, just wish it was not James, lol), I just want people to have fun here. Smile

RE: Contest: Product Ideas - quavis - 06-29-2011

Thats actually better than some of the designs I have seen this year! Nice! Like you said it took 10 mins. Didn't cost much did it? With all the technology Panini has, they could probly do the same and it wouldn't cost a ton. Im pretty sure in retail you try to make twice what it costs, so five cards shouldn't cost them $200 to make for National treasures right?
YES headband cards!!!! I keep meaning to bring that up Xstreme! Why the F are there not headband cards!!!!!! They got the logoman and everything. I see the players throw them in the stands all the time. They cant be that expensive for panini to get.
