PSA auto grading question? - nthnoak - 01-23-2013

I have a 2005 topps rc premiere autographed card of frank gore graded by psa. I know beckett requires jsa to inspect the auto before grading it and Im wondering if PSA has something of the same nature? I just want to know if my auto is real or if PSA just grades them straight up without having the auto inspected or anything.

Hey Nathan,

That's a great question. I'm sorry but I don't know the answer.

Did you see the big news about Beckett getting a new and improved Registry?

Here's the link:

Mark Anderson, Director of Grading, is looking for testers.

To request to be a tester at manderson@beckett.com

I did see that! I'm pretty excited for it even though I'm not completely clear on what the whole registry even is. But it seemed like fun in the past so I tried it but it didn't really work. So I hope it works good this time!

It's brand new and created from scratch. Hopefully there won't be any problems with the dreaded "invalid serial number" response that I was getting before.

I believe anything pre 1998 has to authenticated by DNA, otherwise they follow the manufacturers lead with a few exceptions.
