Ravensburger used its D23 panel in Anaheim on August 14 to lay out a roadmap for the future of Disney Lorcana running through the second quarter of 2027.

The piece that matters most to collectors is not the scheduled set arriving in October, it is a rarity tier that will not exist for another six months, and, upon arrival, the new format will reset the ceiling for every high-end card in your binder.

Understanding the New Disney Lorcana Chase Tier

Lorcana Is Finally Getting a Serialized Chase Card

The product page for Into the Inkdark, the Q1 2027 expansion, confirms a new rarity called Illustrious. The first revealed is Maleficent – Biding Her Time, which is a callback to the original First Chapter Maleficent, and the official page states it appears only in Collector Boosters.

Panel coverage puts the print run at 23 serialized copies, a nod to 1923, the year Disney was founded. That coverage also reads the illustrator credit off the previewed image as Kendall Hale, which no official page confirms.

Lorcana has been the outlier among major TCGs in never printing a hard numbered card inside a set. Its scarcity is a function of pull rate, which means nobody can tell you how many Iconics exist.

They have cleared four figures on the strength of rarity rather than a printed number, and that was enough while nothing scarcer existed.

Some panel write ups placed the Illustrious debut in Hyperia City and reported these cards will carry permanent format legality. Ravensburger’s product page puts the rarity in Into the Inkdark and says nothing about legality.

Here Come the Collector Boosters

Lorcana has run one booster configuration since The First Chapter: 12 cards, 6 Common, 3 Uncommon, 2 Rare or better, and 1 Foil.

Into the Inkdark adds Collector Boosters in 2027. Ravensburger confirms every card in them is a Foil, that Enchanted and Iconic odds improve, and that they are the only route to an Illustrious. Panel coverage puts the count at 12 Foil cards.

Every game that has gone down this road sees the same thing. Premium configurations pull chase supply out of standard packs and concentrates it where the buy in is higher.

Standard booster boxes can expect value drops, and the top of the market gets more expensive.

Hyperia City Adds to the Pool

Set 14 hits local game stores for prerelease on October 16, with wide release October 23. It runs 204 cards and marks Coco’s debut, with Miguel Rivera – Street Musician and Héctor Rivera — Street Musician among the confirmed reveals.

Hyperia City rotates nothing out. The 2026 rotation already happened alongside Attack of the Vine!, which cleared Sets 5 through 8. Hyperia City is the second set of that block, so it joins the legal pool rather than shrinking it.

Sets that remove nothing tend to dilute rather than concentrate demand, and tracked sealed preorders were drifting down rather than up as of early August.

What This Does to Attack of the Vine! Prices

Completed sales tell a healthier story than the roadmap might suggest. Belle & Beast – Certain as the Sun, one of the set’s two Iconics, is clearing right around $2,100 ungraded.

Lilo & Stitch – Fun-Loving Friends, the other Iconic, sits near $1,500 raw, with graded 9 copies changing hands at $3,000.

Winnie the Pooh & Piglet – Hunny Mages, the top Enchanted in the set, is trading around $911 ungraded and has a graded 10 sale at $3,000 behind it.

Booster boxes are settling near $205 against a $143.76 list price, which is the clearest signal that supply for this set has stayed tight.

The buyer paying $2,000 for an Iconic is paying for the scarcest thing in Lorcana. In early 2027, that is no longer what an Iconic is. A 23-copy serialized card gives high-end money somewhere else to go and gives it a number to point at.

Iconics from Attack of the Vine! and Wilds Unknown are not going to zero, but the premium they carry for sitting atop the rarity chart is borrowed, and the loan comes due in Q1.

The Curator’s Collection Is No Longer a Convention Lottery

The D23 Curator’s Collection is a six-card set that debuted at the event on August 14.

It includes Angel – Siren Singer, Pocahontas – Following the Wind, Mushu – Stealthy Dragon, Hector Rivera – Gone to Pieces, Judy Hopps – Uncovering Clues, and Mr. Incredible – Taking Out the Trash.

Unlike previous convention exclusives, this one also goes to Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort and to Disney locations in the UK, Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia.

Past D23 promos commanded steep premiums specifically because attending was the only door in. This one has several doors, in limited quantities, across multiple continents.

That is a different scarcity profile than the 2022 and 2024 exclusives it will be compared to, and anyone pricing it off those comparisons should adjust accordingly.
