Victory Black Rookies found in National Hockey Card Day packs
By Stephen Laroche | Beckett Hockey Editor
Collectors visiting their local card store for National Hockey Card Day on February 6 may have found a surprise inside their promotional packs as Upper Deck included 10 different Victory Black Rookies featuring the biggest names from the 2015-16 freshman class.
While insertion rates for the Victory Black cards are not available, they were seeded in equal quantities in packs distributed at participating stores in Canada and the United States. The numbering for the set continues from Victory Black Rookies that were only available at the Fall 2015 Sportcard & Memorabilia Expo in November.
Which rookies made the cut for the Victory Black set? Find out after the jump.
The checklist for the extension of the 2015-16 Upper Deck Victory Black Rookies set is as follows:
VB-17 Connor McDavid, Edmonton Oilers
VB-18 Jake Virtanen, Vancouver Canucks
VB-19 Nikolaj Ehlers, Winnipeg Jets
VB-20 Robby Fabbri, St. Louis Blues
VB-21 Max Domi, Arizona Coyotes
VB-22 Dylan Larkin, Detroit Red Wings
VB-23 Artemi Panarin, Chicago Blackhawks
VB-24 Mike Condon, Montreal Canadiens
VB-25 Noah Hanifin, Carolina Hurricanes
VB-26 Jack Eichel, Buffalo Sabres
In addition to the Victory Black rookies, there are autograph cards that are specific to both Canadian and American packs. Collectors north of the border could potentially pull signatures from Jacob de la Rose, Kyle Turris, and Marty McSorley while fans in the United States had a shot at autographs from Brandon Dubinsky, Henrik Samuelsson, and Mike Modano.
