Victor Wembanyama Rookie Card Countdown
Though there was some uncertainty about parts of his game, the chase was on for Victor Wembanyama rookie cards immediately after the San Antonio Spurs made the 19-year-old the top overall selection of the 2023 NBA Draft.
Standing at 7-foot-4 and with an other-worldly wingspan, Wembanyama had the look of a disruptive force who could change the NBA, and collectors were quick to jump in, buying, selling, and trading his rookie cards multiple times a day — every day of the year.
And they’ve yet to slow down.
The frenzy for his cards reached a fever pitch in Year 3, as Wembanyama put on the look of a generational talent and won unanimous Defensive Player of the Year honors while pushing the Spurs into the NBA Finals for the first time since the days of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginóbili.
“… As long as he stays healthy, he’s the future of this league. The sky’s the limit,” rival Giannis Antetokounmpo said in January 2026, adding that Wembanyama is eventually “going to be a nightmare.”
As such, his rookie cards have generated significant value in the basketball card industry, and all signs point to continued up arrows for the player appropriately dubbed, “The Martian.”
