No matter the field, no matter the level, wherever Saquon Barkley has been, he has been a standout. A four-star prospect in the 2015 recruiting class, Barkley was the definition of an all-purpose back at Penn State. The every-down-back approach to the game has made Barkley one of the NFL’s best, and collectors love chasing his cards especially rare Panini Prizm parallels.
Each of Barkley’s three seasons in Happy Valley resulted in over 1,000 rushing yards. Adding to his ability to dominate the game on offense, his receiving totals went up each year from 20 to 28, and then to 54 in 2017.
Barkley’s college career ended after three seasons with 3,843 yards on the ground and 43 scores and 102 receptions for 1,195 yards with eight more trips into the end zone. The two-time Big Ten MVP (2016, 2017) was the second pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.
As a rookie with the Giants, Barkley shined rolling for 1,307 yards on the ground, punching it in 11 times. The Giants highlighted their rookie in the passing game with Barkley hauling in 91 for 721 yards with four more touchdowns; an NFL rookie RB record for receptions. Barkley was named to his first of three All-Pro teams as a rook.
Collectors going all in on Barkley got a scare in 2020. In Game 2 of the season, Barkley suffered an ACL tear missing the rest of the season. Looking for a bounce-back year in 2021, Barkley fought through a badly sprained ankle and COVID getting 13 games under his belt but only producing 593 yards rushing.
The 2022 campaign was a career best for Barkley, becoming that workhorse between the tackles toting the rock 295 times for 1,312 yards lighting up the board 10 times.
Taking the Giants’ franchise tag in 2023, the year didn’t go as expected for all parties. Barkley started 14 games getting 247 carries but fell short of the 1,000-yard mark with 962 delivered.
After contract negotiations stalled, Barkley took his talents to the City of Brotherly Love… and the rest, as they say, is history. Barkley found his perfect fit rushing for 2,005 yards scoring the rock 13 times and caught 33 passes for 278 yards. Earning Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2018, Barkley earned the big one, NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2024. Additionally, the Eagles added Super Bowl LIX winner to their resume.
Barkley was in beast mode in the 2024 playoffs, adding 499 rushing yards with five touchdowns and caught 13 more passes for 75 yards. Barkley set the single season record for yards from scrimmage totaling regular and postseason games.
For the 2024 season, Panini produced three variations of their Panini Prizm Deca #240 cards featuring Barkley: Black Gold /5, Black Gold Shimmer FOTL /8, and Prizms Gold /10.
Panini featured 20 players in total in the /10 Prizm Deca Prizms Gold. Others highlighted include Lamar Jackson, Jamal Anderson, Michael Vick, Kirk Cousins, Drake London, Kurt Warner, Marvin Harrison Jr., Budda Baker, Michael Wilson, and Kyler Murray.
On June 8, a CGC certified authentic version of the 2024 Panini Prizm Deca #240 Gold was listed on eBay for $1,500.
