Upper Deck kicks off New Year with Centennial Classic promo set

Fans attending the NHL’s Centennial Classic in Toronto on New Year’s Day got a chance to be on their own hockey card from Upper Deck as the company made a splash in the Fan Arena before the big game.
As Auston Matthews of the Maple Leafs thrilled the crowd with an overtime winner against the Detroit Red Wings later that afternoon, there were some in attendance that were excited to know that they could soon go to their local card store to pick up an exclusive six-card set featuring members of the hometown team. Some collectors were able to obtain them in person as well.
During the month of January, selected card stores in the Toronto area will receive a 2016-17 Upper Deck Centennial Classic promotional set when they make a $20.00 purchase. The checklist will consist of Matthews, fellow rookie William Nylander, Nazem Kadri, Morgan Rielly, Tyler Bozak, and James Van Riemsdyk.
Collectors purchasing a hobby box of 2016-17 Upper Deck Series One Hockey at these stores will also receive a special card #0 of freshman Mitch Marner.
Sets are expected to be delivered to stores this week. Check with your local retailer to see if they are involved in the program and note that they will only be available while supplies last.
In addition to attending the Centennial Classic, Upper Deck was also present at the Winter Classic in St. Louis offering the opportunity for collectors to receive their own unique trading cards.
