Upper Deck issues statement on unauthorized 2013-14 The Cup cards

Upper Deck has confirmed that two Autographed Rookie Patch cards from 2013-14 The Cup were taken by an unauthorized third party and are being sold on the secondary market.
The cards in question are of Brendan Gallagher of the Montreal Canadiens (#138) and Sean Monahan of the Calgary Flames (#190). They are limited to 249 and 99 copies respectively. The company is presently reprinting the cards with different images than those seen in this article in order to ensure that collectors will be aware of the difference between them.
Upper Deck issued a statement on its corporate blog which let collectors know what to do when encountering these cards online or in person.
“Recently we have seen unsigned and signed copies of the Brendan Gallagher card surface in the secondary market. We recommend collectors DO NOT purchase any of the signed or unsigned cards. The cards are Upper Deck property and we ask that if you come across one of the cards, that you contact our Fraud Investigations Team immediately at FIT@upperdeck.com. If you purchase one of the signed cards, the signature cannot be authenticated because the signatures were not obtained by Upper Deck.
“We appreciate the patience of those who have registered redemptions for these cards. Given the additional time for fulfillment, should anyone wish to receive a replacement, you can request that by emailing email@example.com. We are working dutifully to get completed authentic cards out to those who registered them with Upper Deck as soon as possible.”
