Topps WWE Living Set Checklist, Print Runs and Details
When it comes to entertainment, pro wrestling has been a continuous through line for decades. In a similar vein, there’s the Topps WWE Living Set, a series of wrestling cards that’s always expanding and moving forward but with no end in sight.
Every week, the checklist grows by two cards. Each has a different WWE star from the past or present. Similar to other Living Set releases like baseball and Star Wars, it the WWE Living Set takes an artistic approach. Providing the artwork is Dan Bergren who has worked fairly extensively with Topps in the past including the sketch cards in 2020 Topps WWE Transcendent.
The design is based on the iconic 1985 Topps WWF set.
And it’s not just the front. Backs also take on a similar layout as the main wrestler profile cards. Here, there’s a bio on their career and achievements.
This is an online release with cards available to order through the Topps website for one week at a time. New cards drop each Monday with a seven-day sales window. Individually, cards start at $7.99 each but bulk discounts are available. For example, 20 copies of the same card are $74.99, which works out to $3.75 per card. Lots with both of the week’s cards are $11.99. For collectors looking to save a little money during the pre-sale window, eBay has dealers who buy in bulk and offer cheaper rates, often under $6 per card.
Once the sales window closes, cards are made. Print runs are limited to what’s ordered. This will naturally create some short prints. Popular wrestlers will likely result in larger numbers.
Like other Living Sets, theoretically this set could go on forever. That’s not to say that one day the plug won’t be pulled, but that’s not the plan going in.
