Topps prepares first Star Wars wall art line

By Chris Olds | Beckett Sports Card Monthly Editor

There has been an awakening — and on Tuesday collectors can feel it.

No, it’s not The Force Awakens just yet, but Topps is readying a look at the past of Star Wars with a new line of wall art coming Tuesday only on

It’s a five-piece series reproducing the original wrappers from the 1977 trading card releases — only this time they’re much larger and more durable than their wax-paper debuts.

The 1977 Topps Star Wars Original Wrappers art line will consist of just five 99 serial-numbered metal reproductions of the memorable and colorful wrappers that first housed the likes of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Darth Vader. That’s just 495 total pieces.

Each 10- by- 14-inch piece will be numbered and printed on metal. They will only be found via the company’s website when the line is launched. They are $69.99 apiece.
