Topps teases mini baseball card line

Topps‘ latest creation might make you feel like it’s 1975 again … if you’re old enough to remember it.
For those who aren’t? Well, it might be something old that’s something new.
What is it? Well, according to a teaser banner on ShopTopps.com, it appears that the company is planning a line of mini baseball cards.
Back in 1975, there was a mini test issue released — cards that were 2 1/4 by 3 1/8 inches — about three-quarters the size of a standard card. (Need a checklist or OPG for the 1975s? Click here.)
What might be planned this year? We’ll have to wait and see, but it appears the product, whatever it is, may be an online exclusive much like last year’s Allen & Ginter glossy set, which was a Shop Topps-only release.

They also came out with mini sets in 1991-1993.
Those were Topps Micro — about 1/4 the size of a real card.
What about the ones in the late ’80s? They were around the time of the “BIG” cards.
The 1980s Leaders sets and UK set were small releases, not a comprehensive set.
Could be interesting if they include some exclusive cards (like they did with the A&G glossy set) and not just parallel the entire set.
One should not presume that this will be a factory set … could also be in packs.
Right now, we don’t know.
Bet your loving this news Olds, we all know how much you love mini’s.
Thanks Topps1 Don’t you think you’ve released too many minis in the last year or two? 2012 – the year Topps killed the mini.
Topps micros were actually around 1/12 the size of regular cards.
