Topps Announces LeBron James 23 Seasons Patch Will be Used in Basketball Cards
Topps on Monday announced that LeBron James will wear a 23 Seasons patch on his jersey for the rest of the season, some of which will later be used in a rare Topps basketball cards. It marks the latest extension of the company’s specialty patch initiatives.
James will first wear the patch, which honors him for becoming the first player in NBA history to appear in 23 seasons, on Monday, January 12, in a game against the Sacramento Kings. James made his NBA debut in Sacramento on October 29, 2003.

The patch shows a silhouette of James performing his pre-game chalk-toss ritual and includes a crest with uniform colors from throughout his career. Those colors represent his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers (2003-10), Miami Heat (2010-14), Cleveland Cavaliers again (2015-18), and Los Angeles Lakers (2018-present).
The specialty James patch comes on the heels of previous Topps patch projects like the Rookie Debut Patch and Gold Logoman Patch, which both were born in baseball but introduced to basketball after Fanatics reached an exclusive licensing agreement with the NBA that began on October 1, 2025.
Topps did not reveal which product or products may use the James patches, only that they will be removed from his uniform and used for “ultra-rare trading cards.”
Among existing specialty patch projects, Rookie Debut Patch Autographs are 1/1s, while Gold Logoman Patch cards are numbered to /4, though they also have 1/1 autographed versions. Topps did not indicate if there will be an autographed version of cards featuring LeBron’s 23 Seasons patch.
