Top Pokémon TCG Ascended Heroes Chase Cards: Which Cards Do People Want Most?

Every Pokémon TCG set has its chase cards, and Ascended Heroes is no different. However, with some of these coming out of the pack worth almost four digits, it’s a good thing to know which cards everyone wants. We’ve combed the internet and checked fan sentiment to determine our chase card list, which you can find below.
What Pokémon TCG Ascended Heroes Cards Does Everyone Want?
Pokémon TCG Ascended Heroes is a reprint set, so its chase cards aren’t meta-defining. Fans want them for the terrific artwork and nostalgia factor. So, don’t expect to see the best cards for actually playing the game here.
#5 Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex (Special Illustration Rare)

Ascended Heroes might be a reprint set, but fans want Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex like it’s brand new. The illustration is the key draw here, featuring Mewtwo and Giovanni by Mitsuhiro Arita, the mastermind behind the Base Set Charizard and tons of other iconic cards. Additionally, this card carries the Team Rocket prefix, which almost always adds some value when it comes to Pokémon TCG. That double whammy of nostalgia means this card is a hot commodity.

#4 Pikachu ex (Special Illustration Rare)

The Ascended Heroes Pikachu ex is a reprint from Surging Sparks with new artwork. You won’t find the card dominating the meta, but the image of Pikachu wearing a Stellar Tera Type crown is absolutely adorable. So, why is it a chase card? It’s Pikachu. That’s it.

#3 Mega Charizard Y ex (Mega Hyper Rare)

Mega Charizard Y ex doesn’t have a Special Illustration Rare variant in Ascended Heroes, so the Mega Hyper Rare doesn’t have competition for its place on the chase card list. Charizard is a fan favorite, and the rarer versions of it have always been near the top of each expansion’s chase cards since the Base Set was released way back in 1998. This card isn’t great when it comes to gameplay, so love of the Pokémon is driving this one’s popularity.
*Buy Mega Charizard Y ex MHR cards on eBay and Amazon.
#2 Mega Dragonite ex (Special Illustration Rare)

Dragonite is a super popular Pokémon, and it’s no surprise that Mega Dragonite’s first appearance in Pokémon TCG is going for big bucks. While this card does have its place in some of the best decks in Ascended Heroes, most of its appeal lies in the amazing artwork and nostalgia.
Of note, the Special Illustration Rare is more sought after than the Mega Hyper Rare, despite the latter having much lower pull rates. We’ve seen this pattern plenty of times, and it’s because the artwork on the MHR just isn’t as engaging as the colorful rendition of Dragonite on the SIR.

#1 Mega Gengar ex (Special Illustration Rare)

The top chase card for Pokémon TCG Ascended Heroes is Mega Gengar ex. While it’s a decent enough card, like with some of the previous entries on the list, the primary driving force behind the obsession with this card is nostalgia and great artwork. We haven’t seen a high-rarity Gengar in a while, so fans of the ghost Pokémon (and the original 151 in general) are clamoring to get their hands on this one.
