Messier front

By Stephen Laroche | Beckett Hockey Editor

Hockey card collectors breaking open packs and blaster boxes of 2016-17 Parkhurst Hockey may have come across a special holiday-themed insert as unannounced Tis The Season cards have recently surfaced.

Release in mid-December, the timing for these inserts was perfect and three different players have been discovered so far online. Typically, when Upper Deck puts an unannounced insert set into a product, they do not provide a checklist right away in the hopes that collectors will organically discover the cards and determine which players were included.

Messier back

An exclusive to Walmart stores on both sides of the border, 2016-17 Parkhurst has a large 400-card base set and is available in retail and fat packs along with blaster boxes. Initially, it was touted as a Canadian exclusive, but it is available in the United States as well.

Since this went up, copies of Patrice Bergeron and Mike Bossy have gone up and sold. I also hit a second one of these, Alex Ovechkin. So far, there have not been second copies of any card that I’ve seen surface.

I pulled a Doug Gilmour as TS 16. I haven’t seen a Mike Bossy, so that’s kinda strange if they’re numbered the same.

I have a TS 18 Sidney Crosby, but your list shows TS 18 is Gretsky, hmmm….

@scott – This is the list for the 2016-17 set. Crosby is #TS-18 in the 2019-20 set.
