The Daily: 2007 Bowman AFLAC Tim Beckham Autograph
The Card: 2007 Bowman AFLAC Autographs Tim Beckham #TB /127
Sometimes it takes only a year or two for a MLB draft pick to make an impact in the majors. In Tim Beckham’s case, it has taken a decade. Yes, it’s about as early as you can get into the new season, but the first overall pick in the 2008 draft is paying immediate dividends for the Seattle Mariners.
Beckham’s route to the majors was a slow one. He missed 50 games in 2012 due to a drug-related suspension. After playing in five games for the Rays in 2013, Beckham missed the entire 2014 season due to injury. His best season came in 2017 when he hit 22 home runs between both Tampa and Baltimore, who traded for him at the end of July.
Now 29, Beckham signed a one-year deal with the Mariners. He hit two home runs on Opening Day. After hitting another one in the two-game series between Seattle and Oakland in Japan a week earlier, Beckham’s total is already at three. He’s already at seven hits and five RBI as well.
The 2007 Bowman AFLAC Tim Beckham autograph was actually inserted in packs of 2010 Bowman Draft. However, it was signed when Beckham was still in high school, making it one of his earliest autographs. It’s numbered to 127 copies.
It’s going to take a lot more than a quick burst of home runs in three games to make any sort of real impact on Beckham’s cards. But for the moment, it’s a potential comeback story to keep an eye on.
