The Daily: 1982 Panini World Cup Stickers Diego Maradona
The Card Sticker: 1982 Panini World Cup Stickers Diego Maradona #176
The World Cup and stickers are made for each other. With the 2018 edition kicking off in Russia, we’re going to take it back to 1982. This is when one of the tournament’s legends, Diego Maradona, made his World Cup sticker debut.
And there’s so much awesome involved. From the stoic look to the period haircut to an orange named Naranjito looking on (the 1982 mascot), it’s awesome.
Maradona’s legend on the World Cup stage didn’t come until four years later when he captained Argentina to victory.
This is not an easy sticker to find. But that’s part of the nature of the beast. Stickers are certainly made for collecting, but the tradition and fun comes from putting it in the album. Traditionally, it’s about swaps and finishing the set versus specializing in one player.
Maradona has a handful of stickers out there and a still growing number of soccer cards. In recent years, he’s made appearances in several Panini card sets, including autographs.
