The Best MTG Commander Decks to Play in 2025

Hello fellow Commander lovers! Looking for top decks for 2025? Commander is a popular Magic: The Gathering format where your legendary Commander leads a 99-card deck (no duplicates, except basic lands) in a multiplayer battle.
Commander is all about big plays, self-expression, and fun. Lucky for all of us there are plenty of Commanders and legions of cards to choose from to make your deck yours. Let’s check out three commanders that I’ve enjoyed playing in 2025.
Lathril, Blade of the Elves Stars in The Elven Empire Strikes Back!
First up, Lathril, Blade of the Elves, leads your Green/Black elf army. She’s about swarming with elves for a straightforward tribal win. This Commander is great for fans of overwhelming force.
Let’s take a closer look at Lathril. She is a 2/3 Elf Noble for four mana. What’s great about Lathril is she has Menace which helps her deal damage and create more 1/1 Elf Warrior tokens.
I recommend the “elfball” strategy because it makes those elves fast. Also, tap Lathril and ten elves to make opponents lose 10 life while you gain 10. Do this a few times and it’s a game-winner.
While Lathril is the star of the show, you need a good support team. Elvish Archdruid/Priest of Titania are Mana factories. Tap for green mana per Elf, fueling plays while Archdruid also buffs them. Another great choice is Craterhoof Behemoth which gives your team a massive +X/+X boost and trample from your creature count, making your Elf swarm lethal.
Bottom line I think you’ll love this Commander If you like big armies, tribal synergy, and self-sufficiency.
Treasures and Tricks with Prosper, Tome-Bound
Next, we have Prosper, Tome-Bound who is a Red/Black scary looking Warlock. I would describe him as a value engine because you play cards from exile and get treasure tokens. This is a semi-difficult commander for fans of impulse draw and snowballing advantage.
The strategy is pretty straight forward. On your end step, Prosper exiles your top card. Once exiled you can play it up until the end of your turn. This ability stacks with you getting a Treasure for every card you exile. The loop fuels more plays.
Let’s take a look at some other top players that compliment Prosper, Tome-Bound. First, we have Jeska’s Will. This Sorcery gives a mana burst or exiles three cards from play, fueling Prosper’s Treasures. Next we have Mirkwood Bats/Reckless Fireweaver. This combo turns Treasures into damage with Bats ping on Token entry/exit and Fireweaver on Artifact entry.
I recommend this deck for anyone who loves extra cards, mana, and playing from exile.
Zimone, Mystery Unraveler is Unmasking Value
Finally, we have Zimone, Mystery Unraveler, a Green/Blue Wizard. This is a tricky Landfall and face-down Creature deck that rewards sneaky “gotcha!” moments.
Zimone, Mystery Unraveler is a four-mana 3/3 Human Wizard that thrives on Landfall which basically means when lands enter, cool stuff happens.
The strategy of this deck is actually quite satisfying. The first Landfall triggers “manifest dread” (look at the two top cards of your library, turn one into a face down 2/2 creature and send the other to the graveyard). The second landfall flips over the creature. Keep playing lands to continually create 2/2 creatures.
A card that goes great with Zimone is Yedora, Grave Gardener which causes dying creatures to return as face-down Forest lands, triggering Zimone. Sac a creature, it’s a land; second landfall flips it to repeat.
This Commander allows you to enjoy mind games, landfall value, and sneaky plays.
Command Your Fun!
These three MTG Commanders offer great time for 2025, but the best deck is one you love. Commander is about self-expression and fun with friends. Just pick a legend you enjoy and play.
Hello,
