The TCG market continues to explode in popularity worldwide. As new TCG brands hit card shop shelves, the tried-and-true titans of the empire, like Pokémon, remain atop the chase list for enthusiasts. Searching sales data on secondary online platforms over the past months, jaw dropping sold for numbers demonstrate just how strong the market is along with the passion of the hunt.

Recent eBay Sale Prices

Going into the new year, a sealed Pokémon Team Rocket booster box sold on eBay for $29,999 on Dec. 25.

On Jan. 1, a three-card lot of Hisuian Sneasel, Hisuian Growlithe, and Hisuian Voltorb caught attention, netting $77,777.

The next eye-popping sale happened on March 1, a (2023) Sword and Shield Lucario VSTAR Promo left a California card shop at $99,999.

Seven days later, that same lucky card shop in California sold three more 2023 promo cards (3-card lot), Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, for $99,999.

This story is ridiculous. The lucario promo is maybe $10 and the 2023, 3 card set is worth maybe $2.00. This story is a fabrication or the sales are fake. You are 100% misleading people with this and you should write about things you know about.

Eric, thanks for reading. All sales information is taken directly from eBay, as the company reports items sold which are open to the public. I found some of the selling prices to be very high as well, outliers (?), thus something worth sharing with the TCG community.

Thats so stupid and I dont see how those cards sold for anywhere near those prices unless they sold them to someone they knew as fake sales only to get attention!!

Stupid article misrepresenting the true value of the cards based off “Ebay comps”. Any idiot knows those were not real sales. Beckett should be embarrassed and take down this article.

Hey Adam, it is kind of like arguing over the temperature outside. If the Weather Channel says the temperature is ABC, it would be inaccurate to say/write that it is XYZ, even if we both agree ABC is hard to believe. Those sales could end up voided, refunded, or found to be fraudulent. Neither one of us has control over who bought what for how much, right or wrong. The reporting is accurate, and open to the public on eBay, even if the sold for pricing seems extreme… which makes it all the more interesting.

Money laundering at it finest level
Surely you can find better things to write about than those or better yet do some investigative journalism and find the buyer and interview him that would be a good read but yeah
    Money laundering my friend
