Silver bar series commemorates Secretariat’s Triple-Crown mettle

On the eve of the running of the 141st Kentucky Derby, Elemetal has announced a silver bar set featuring Secretariat, the superhorse who still holds the three Triple Crown race records 42 years after running in them.
The Elemetal Secretariat Silver Commemorative Set will feature three 1 oz. colored silver bars — one for each of the Triple Crown races Secretariat won in 1973 — The Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes. The collection comes in a commemorative box, with each silver bar encapsulated in a clear, tamper-proof holder. On the inside of the box reads “Out of the gate … and into history!”
The Secretariat Silver Commemorative Set is expected to be available on or around May 21, and carries a retail price of $224. Production is limited to just 1,973 sets.
Elemetal entered the collectibles field in recent months with a T206 Silver Bar Series that included Honus Wagner, three different Cy Young bars and two different Christy Mathewson bars. The company is expected to release a Ty Cobb version in the near future.
The company believes the Secretariat Silver Commemorative Set will help reach a passionate, but somewhat underserved, segment of the collectibles industry — horse-racing collectors.
“We felt Secretariat was the right fit for a set of three bars,” Elemetal’s Dave Sliepka said. “And it comes in a high quality, leather-looking presentation box. Just like with our T206 Series, we took as much pride in the box presentation as we did the product.”
