Shohei Ohtani’s 2018 Bowman Chrome Superfractor Sets Multiple Records
Shohei Ohtani’s 2018 Bowman Chrome 1/1 Superfractor parallel broke a pair of records after selling in a private deal brokered by Fanatics Collect.
The card, which earned a BGS 9.5 designation, hails from Ohtani’s rookie season and sold for $3.365 million, according to an announcement made by Fanatics on Tuesday. That makes it the most expensive Ohtani card of all time and the most expensive non-autographed Superfractor ever sold.
Ohtani’s rookie card leads off the 2018 Bowman Chrome Baseball checklist and shows him batting against the San Diego Padres in his second-ever spring training game. As he has developed into one of the most unique players in MLB history, his Bowman Chrome rookie card has gained notoriety, making the rarest parallel versions of it some of the most sought-after cards in his entire catalog.
The sale makes it the most expensive Ohtani card to date, beating out the 2025 Topps Chrome 1/1 Autographed Gold Logoman Patch card that sold for $3 million though the Fanatics Collect Premier Auction that ended on December 19, 2025. It’s the fifth Ohtani card overall to sell for more than $1 million.

No other non-autographed Superfractor has ever sold for more than $1 million. The closest was Lewis Hamilton’s 2020 Topps Chrome F1 Superfractor, which sold for $900,000.
Only two autographed Superfractors have sold for more than this Ohtani card — Aaron Judge’s card from 2013 Bowman Draft ($5.2 million) and Mike Trout’s card from 2009 Bowman Draft ($3.84 million).
