Winfrees-Header

Always read the card backs. You never know what you’re going to find on there.

Steve Winfree and his wife Heather were sitting outside opening some packs of 2017 Bowman Platinum Baseball. After hitting some notable players like Mike Trout, Noah Syndergaard and Clint Frazier, Steve came across a one-of-one that will change both of their lives.

It wasn’t some fancy surprise Aaron Judge autograph or Bryce Harper mega patch. It was something much more valuable.

Heather got a custom card of her husband made through Topps. Steve has a complicated health history, which includes chronic kidney disease.

He needed a donor before his kidneys failed. And that’s where the special baseball card comes in.

Through his health battles, Steve has become an advocate and public in helping, inspiring and recognizing others in similar conditions. You can find out more about him and his work, and ways you can help through his website.

It’s a redemption card though…would be nice if the kidney was in pack…

Seriously though, very cool and good luck to both.

WOW! You are a sweetheart. I am a fellow kidney transplant recipient and I will tell you how much this gift meant to me. You get your color back, you have energy again and you wont have to do dialyisis. Your life gets back to normal and that is a valuable gift. Very cool thing to do and best of luck you two. Absolutely wonderful.

This is the best thing a wife can give her husband. I started to cry. God bless both of them. And the way she told him ………… priceless.
