Screen-worn Michael Jordan Space Jam jersey up for bid
By Ryan Cracknell | Hobby Editor
For most of us, a Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls game-used jersey is out of reach. Even most jersey cards are expensive. But how about a screen-worn Michael Jordan Space Jam jersey?
One has hit the auction block through Profiles in History. The jersey and shorts pair has a starting bid of $10,000.
According to the item’s description, this is the uniform Jordan wore when he made Bugs Bunny and friends believe they could fly during the final showdown against the villainous Monstars.
The TuneSquad jersey is mesh with the team logo on the front and Jordan’s number 23 on the back. The size 38 shorts have the matching red, white and blue trim. The uniform shows signs of wear and a bit of staining.
The uniform comes with an estimated value of $10,000 to $15,000. The winning bidder also has to pay a 28% buyer’s premium.
The auction ends on Thursday, October 1 at 11AM.
If $10,000 is out of your price range, there are plenty of other Space Jam collectibles out there including two sets of trading cards from Upper Deck.
Perhaps the bigger question to come of this is if Michael Jordan’s jersey hits five figures, how much is Bill Murray’s Space Jam jersey worth?
That is really cool. The questions I have are how many of the uniforms were made for the movie, and of which how many actually had screen time. Also, a 28% buyers premium seems pretty high, but maybe I am just used to most being 15-20%.
This is a very special 1/1. They should throw in a DVD of the movie for the winning bid.
A signed jersey with a letter from Upper Deck Authenticated from filming sold for $1,165 back in 2010.
This one has no authentication — but is (according to the auction description) a proper AIS jersey. AIS, or Athletes in Sport, makes nearly all of the gear used in sports films.
Wow, I didn’t realize one sold for only $1,165 in 2010. That seems uber-cheap considering it came with a UDA COA. This one isn’t even signed, but it does come with the shorts, so maybe people will think it’s worth more because of that. I wish I had seen the one in 2010, as I would’ve bid on it. No way I am paying $10k+ for this one though.
