Quad Rookie Gems Draft To Be Held On April 9

By Stephen Laroche | Beckett Hockey Editor

Last season saw the debut of some of the most eye-catching hockey cards ever made as Upper Deck debuted their Quad Rookie Gems cards featuring a solid cast of freshmen and they are back once again in 2014-15.

Collectors and dealers that attended the recent 2015 Industry Summit got an in-person look at all of the cards, which contain four genuine one carat diamonds. With just 25 different redemption cards seeded into packs of 2014-15 Black Diamond, those lucky enough to pull one and redeem it by April 9 will have an equal shot at having the first overall pick in the special draft event. As of last week, only 10 of the 25 entries had been redeemed.

Please be sure to vote in a special poll and check out a partial gallery of 2014-15 Upper Deck Black Diamond Quad Rookie Gems cards after the jump.

It should also be noted that these cards are incredibly thick due to the size of the gems that are embedded within them. The checklist will mirror the Quad Diamond Rookie subset cards but have different photos.

Beckett Hockey will deliver further details on the draft once it has been completed.

If you had the first overall pick in the 2014-15 Upper Deck Rookie Gems draft, who would you select?
