Last week, hockey card collectors received word that Dr. Brian Price was returning to the market with a venture called President’s Choice Trading Cards and details about the company’s first releases have surfaced.

Sold on a first-come, first-served basis via the company’s website, Price unveiled a trio of concepts which are as limited as it can get. Each card is a one-of-one and will start being sold as early as December 1.

MegaPatch

What makes the MegaPatch cards intriguing is the fact that they all feature reproductions of original artwork. Instead of game-used memorabilia, they feature pieces of commemorative patches that were not worn by the depicted athlete. Those that purchase cards also have the first chance to buy the actual artwork that was reproduced on the card. If they do not choose to buy it after seven days, the art will be put on sale to the general public. Since these cards are one-of-one pieces and show logos, it appears that Price has found a way around league, group, and individual player licensing.

The MegaPatch cards will be available in other sports besides hockey as cards of Babe Ruth were also shown on Price’s personal blog.

Dynasty Stick Cards

Over the years, there have been teams which have won multiple Stanley Cup championships and some of the best players from those organizations are the subject of the Dynasty Stick Cards collection. All of these cards are one-of-ones and the first two collections announced by President’s Choice Trading Cards feature giant pieces of game-used sticks from members of the Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens.

If a collector misses out on the chance to buy their favorite player once it is offered, there is a chance to buy a complete and uncut nine-card sheet featuring all nine cards from the set. These cards are expected to have a different back for added security and to be distinct from the individual cards.

Lumbergraphs

Lumbergraphs is a name that is familiar to those who enjoyed Price’s earlier In The Game releases and they are back with vintage signatures on chunks of sticks. The names teased come from the early years of the professional game and it appears that these cards will be issued in waves over time.

Made To Order

In addition to these collections, Price is bringing back one of the staples from In The Game in Made To Order. The first place where collectors could specify the player they wanted for a one-of-one card, the concept ran for over a decade and its return should be welcomed by those who missed it – especially that it appears they will be able to request a card specifically instead of trying to pull it from a pack.

It should also be noted that President’s Choice Trading Cards will be unveiling details about its Blue and White Centennial release at the Fall 2016 Sportcard & Memorabilia Expo and additional details will come soon from Beckett Hockey.
