Pokémon TCG Pocket: Best Lightning Decks

Lightning decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket are all about timing, and can either overwhelm your opponent quickly or limit their ability to do anything at all. Below are two ways you can play with Lightning, and while it may seem like these two are polar opposites, both are viable and show that you have the flexibility to build different types. One builds for fast, aggressive, explosive starts, aiming to put pressure on your opponent as soon as possible and punish their slow starts. The other focuses on denying your opponent options, disrupting their plans, and creating awkward situations for them by limiting their options to force them into an “out of options” situation.
Best Pokémon TCG Pocket Lightning Deck: Quick Jolteon
The main objective of the Quick Jolteon deck is to get Jolteon ex in play as quickly as possible. If you get a lucky draw, you can use Eevee’s Boosted Evolution ability to get Jolteon ex on the field in your first turn and start attacking by your second. If you can pull this off, Jolteon ex’s Mach Bolt makes quick work of basic Pokémon, and its Electromagnetic Wall ability does 20 damage anytime an opponent adds energy to one of their creatures.
Even if you don’t have the best of luck, Poké Ball, Copycat, and Professor’s Research will help you get the cards you need quickly. You also slightly increase your chances of getting Jolteon ex into play with the inclusion of Eevee ex.

Best Pokémon TCG Pocket budget Lightning Deck: Magnezone and Oricorio
The Magnezone and Oricorio deck is all about stopping your opponent from attacking at all and is the perfect counter to decks like Quick Jolteon. When it’s the active Pokémon, Oricorio’s Safeguard ability prevents damage from ex Pokémon. This can stop your foe in their tracks when they rush out their ex Pokémon only to find it can’t do anything.
In the meantime, you’ll be shooting to get Magneton on your bench so its Volt Charge ability lets it double up on energy per turn. Once you get Magneton evolve to Magnezone, its Mirror Shot attack makes your opponent flip a coin the next time the defending Pokémon tries to attack. If tails, it doesn’t get to make a move. So, with luck, you can take all your enemy’s prizes before they can even get a move off.
