Pokémon TCG Hot/Cold List for the Week of April 6, 2026
Welcome back to our weekly breakdown of the Pokémon secondary market. This week’s list is defined by a massive divide in the market.
On one side, we have cards like Mega Gengar ex and Mega Zygarde ex that are surging because they represent the new Mega Evolution meta.
On the other, we have icons like Pikachu and Blastoise that are rising purely on 30th-anniversary nostalgia.
Finally, we’re looking at Gardevoir ex, which is cooling off as its competitive lifespan draws to a close.
The Hot List
Mega Gengar ex (Ascended Heroes 284)
Mega Gengar ex has officially become the heavyweight champion of 2026. This Special Illustration Rare (SIR) has transitioned from a high-value chase to a genuine market phenomenon over the last seven days.
After starting the week at a market price of approximately $1,100, it surged past $1,150. On the auction circuit, the growth is even more aggressive, with raw near mint copies on eBay reaching as high as $1,530.
The surge is driven by a perfect storm of playability and aesthetics. Illustrated by danciao, the artwork features a neon-saturated palette that collectors are obsessed with.
Competitively, its 350 HP makes it the sturdiest attacker in the new Ghost Spread archetype. With the rotation of major disruption tools like Iono, players are finding it nearly impossible to stop a powered-up Gengar before it spreads enough damage to sweep the board.

Pikachu ex (Surging Sparks 247)
While the Special Illustration Rare version of Pikachu ex usually gets the headlines, the Gold Hyper Rare variant has executed the most surprising move of the week.
After sitting quietly in the mid-$40 range for months, the card suddenly jumped, landing at a current market value of around $70.
This is what we call a rarity correction. In the Mega Evolution era, Gold Hyper Rares are actually harder to pull than SIRs, yet they often trade for less because collectors prefer full-art illustrations.
However, as supply for the massive 250+ card Surging Sparks set tightens, the math is finally catching up to the market.
Collectors are realizing that this is one of the rarest versions of the franchise mascot, and they are buying up the floor.

Blastoise ex (Scarlet & Violet ‘151’ 200)
In a move that defies standard rotation logic, the Blastoise ex SIR from the Scarlet & Violet ‘151’ set is skyrocketing. Despite the set’s G regulation mark indicating it will leave play on April 10, the card climbed from $120 to over $150 this week, with live listings hitting even higher.
The 151 expansion has essentially become a mini-base set for the modern era, operating in its own economic bubble.
While other rotating cards are dropping, Blastoise is benefiting from a completionist rush. Collectors are scrambling to finish their Kanto SIR trios before the 30th-anniversary hype pushes these cards entirely out of reach.

Mega Zygarde ex (Perfect Order 124)
As the marquee release of the Perfect Order expansion that dropped on March 27, this Gold Hyper Rare has established a massive value right out of the gate.
Trading around $190, it is currently the most expensive card in the set. The demand is fueled by ultra-scarcity.
Pull rate studies involving 3,500 booster packs show that Mega Zygarde ex appears in roughly 1 in every 1,786 packs, making it significantly harder to find than even the most coveted SIRs. The mathematical probability of pulling this card is 0.056%.

The Cold List
Gardevoir ex (Paldean Fates 233)
The Gardevoir ex SIR is our cooling card this week. Once an $180 staple, it has seen a drop over the last month, with copies now frequently selling for roughly $120.
The decline is purely structural. The Psychic Embrace engine relied heavily on support cards that are rotating out on April 10. In a new meta dominated by 340+ HP Mega Evolutions, Gardevoir’s inability to efficiently scale damage has made it a liability for competitive players.
We are seeing a classic rotation dump as players offload their copies to fund new decks for the summer tournament circuit.
