Pokémon TCG EX Crystal Guardians Checklist: Full CG Card List

EX Crystal Guardians is the 14th main expansion in the Pokémon TCG’s EX Series. It released in English on August 30, 2006, and it keeps the Delta Species era going while mixing in plenty of normal Pokémon alongside the off-type delta variants.
Your first hint about the direction of this set comes from the types of the two delta versions of the well-known names in Pokémon; Charizard δ is a dual Lightning and Metal type, and Blastoise δ is Fighting and Metal. So, when we look at how these starters will work for you on the field in terms of match-ups and coverage, they’ll be working very differently than they do in the video games. The third of the classic starter trio, Venusaur, is also part of the holo lineup in this set, giving the three iconic Kanto starters representation that’ll tickle your sense of nostalgia.
Crystal Guardians has earned a place in history as well through its Trainer cards. The Trainer card Cessation Crystal was one of the most popular disruption cards of the time because it stops all Poké-Power and Poké-Body effects of an active Pokémon while it is attached, and cannot be used with a Pokémon-ex. In addition to disrupting opponents’ plans, Crystal Beach reduces any special energy that would typically provide at least two energies into a single colorless energy. Crystal Shard is less powerful, but still a handy card. It changes the Type of any of your Pokémon to colorless when you use it and then discards itself after you make an attack.
What to Expect in the Pokémon TCG EX Crystal Guardians Set
The chase tier in this set is extremely deep; there are 10 Pokémon-EX, among them: Aggron ex, Blaziken ex, Delcatty ex, Exploud ex, Groudon ex, Jirachi ex, Kyogre ex, Sceptile ex, Shiftry ex and Swampert ex. The Gold Star card pull of Alakazam Star and Celebi Star sits at the very pinnacle of the chase tier.
If you like sealed product from this era, Crystal Guardians is also a release that came with three theme decks instead of the usual two. Green Cyclone, Storm Surge, and Earth Shower give you different starting points built around Venusaur and Blastoise, plus supporting types that match the set’s overall spread.
