TARRYTOWN, N.Y. | Every year before the start of the NBA season, the current class of rookies go through meetings and seminars during Rookie Transition Week. They learn about financial considerations and some of the pitfalls NBA players can run into during their career.
Then comes a day of fun.
They get to put on their new NBA uniforms, many of them feeling the fibers for the first time, and take pictures that will eventually show up in basketball products for that upcoming season.
On Tuesday, this year’s group of rookies descended on the MSG Training Facility in Tarrytown, N.Y., where Panini America set up several photo stations to get thousands of pictures of the 61 rookies in attendance. Players such as top draft picks Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Bradley Beal were there, showing off their basketball moves and signing autographs for several fans.

How many ‘barely worn’ jerseys are they putting on so Panini can trick the rubes with “sick mojo patches” since they have a virtual unlimited suppy of jerseys to cut up?
Chris,
The players wore one jersey the entire time I saw them. They were running around taking photos at about five different stations, and then playing a little basketball at one of the empty side hoops.
Did last year’s rookies have their own shoot or something? I thought that was the plan, to have a combo shoot, no?
RJ: Some of them signed cards last week.
Was Mike Scott from the Hawks there?
He was on the list of attendees. I didn’t personally see him — there were a lot of people — but the list was accurate.
