The Industry Summit kicks off Sunday with card companies and hundreds of dealers converging on Las Vegas to discuss the state of the hobby.

While there is plenty of business talk, there are still aspects that make it fun for those attending.

Panini America is rolling out its Black Box promo once again – a place to get special rare cards specifically made for this type of event.

The Black Boxes will have at least one card – a 1-of-1 – from all four sports as well as pop culture figures. Many cards will have prime patches or memorabilia (as shown in the preview).

Some unique items come from “The Golden Age” collection with material worn by Grace Kelly or Jackie Kennedy Onassis.

Each of the cards in the collection will have a foil-stamped “Panini Black Box” mark.

“The cards used to create the Black Box hits include small quantities of overruns from our roster of products printed specifically for inclusion in Black Boxes and for other hobby marketing promotions,” Panini wrote on the company blog.

Panini will preview the autograph hits and other items that will be inserted into the black boxes throughout the week. Come back here to see the updates.

Beckett Media will attend the Industry Summit this year and will be posting news throughout the day as well as updated information on its Twitter page.

Actually, Deeez, Panini makes extras of all hit cards throughout the year for damage replacements as well as promotions such as this and the NSCC. This is not a new development, nor is it a secret one. They’ve discussed it on their site.
