Panini Lands WWE Trading Card License
WWE will have a new trading card partner starting in 2022. Panini is taking over the exclusive license beginning in the first quarter, replacing Topps. The new multi-year deal covers both trading cards and stickers.
The card maker is planning to kick things off leading up to WrestleMania, which is being held in Dallas — Panini America’s backyard, with 2022 Panini Prizm WWE.
“We have always been intrigued by WWE as a license partner and their fans’ incredible passion,” said Mark Warsop, Panini America CEO. “We have big plans for our WWE portfolio and the new heights we can help WWE trading cards and stickers reach in the collectibles arena.”
Scott Zanghellini, WWE Senior Vice President, Revenue Strategy and Development noted the international scope of the deal, “We believe that this partnership perfectly aligns our mutual interests in providing fans with exclusive collectibles and, ultimately, growing this category globally.”
Topps has held a WWE trading card license since 2005. Fleer and Comic Images were previous license holders before that.
What about digital?
Nothing was mentioned so not sure at this point.
Does that include digital trading cards as well?
