Panini America Confirms NASCAR Trading Cards License
By Ryan Cracknell | Hobby Editor
It has been been more than a year since there was a set of NASCAR trading cards. But the end of the drought is in sight. Today Panini America confirmed they were, indeed, getting in the racing card business. The announcement came during the company’s presentation at the 2016 Industry Summit in Hawaii.
Not a lot of specifics were given about products or release dates. However, the 2016 Panini NASCAR trading card lineup was revealed. A total of four sets will be released this year:
- 2016 Panini Prizm NASCAR
- 2016 Panini Torque NASCAR
- 2016 Panini Certified NASCAR
- 2016 Panini National Treasures NASCAR
As mentioned, no specifics were given as far as release dates go but the impression was given that Prizm would be the first set under the agreement.
The details were given during the company’s address that covered several topics and concluded with their Black Box presentations given to attendees.
There hasn’t been any racing cards since Press Pass went out of business in January, 2015.

can’t wait for nascar in prism. this is great news
Looking forward to a new set, can’t say I’m surprised…I would have been more shocked, if it hadn’t been Panini.
If their smart, they’ll just sign the RTA (Race Team Alliance)…they would get 90%, of the drivers in one contract.
looking foward to seeing the first checklist and finding out what first time signers and race used drivers I am going to need to pick up.
Also cant wait to see what they do different.
Not a fan of stickers but it is what it is and i hate that expression also
Fantastic news!
Glad the market will be served, but leery of Panini’s love for non-used “EVENT WORN” stuff.
Was pulling for Upper Deck, but after watching them drop the ball with Hockey, I really don’t know any more.
I guess it’s nice to see some NASCAR stuff again, but with Panini’s track record, I can’t see them living up to what Press Pass provided.
@david quinn thats not how the race team alliance works
New Danica cards? Sold. Hoping they bring over some of the designs they did in other sets to Nascar.
Hope they Distribute sets, packs to Target, K-Mart, Wal-Mart because Press Pass was Very week on retail distribution.
I thought Press Pass did an excellent job and put out a great product. I’m not sure Pannini is up to the task. We shall see!
