Who’s on first? Larry.

Wait, that won’t work … is it Moe? No. Is it Curly?

Ah, nevermind …

Panini America announced on Monday that it will have a bit of oldschool Hollywood in its forthcoming Panini Golden Age baseball card set — The Three Stooges.

The bumbling trio of the 1930s will be on the minds of a few retro-minded collectors as Panini announced its licensing deal with C3 Entertainment — the first major-company card release for the Stooges in several decades.

“The Three Stooges are iconic in American culture,” said Jason Howarth, Panini America’s Vice President of Marketing, in a prepared release. “When building a trading card product like Golden Age that features some of the greatest players in baseball history along with entertainers, there was no question, that The Three Stooges should be a part of it. We are excited to deliver new trading cards for Stooges fans everywhere.”

C3’s Executive Vice President Ani Khachoian echoed that statement.

“Panini America including The Three Stooges in their Golden Age set is another indicator of how strong the brand is and how deeply embedded it is in American society,” Khachoian said. “This is definitely a ‘must have’ collectible for Three Stooges fans, entertainment fans, baseball fans and card collectors as it is an unique and eclectic set.”

Golden Age is set to arrive in late-November with some of the game’s biggest legends, celebrities and … even the Loch Ness Monster.

I love it, I hope someday Laurel and Hardy can get their time in the lime light too but I am digging the addition of the 3 Stooges. I am a bit disappointed that they colorized the picture though, Breygent did the same thing when they released their set a couple of years ago. A black and white image just seems more fitting.
